1.0 Introduction & Agreement Preamble
This document outlines the necessary technical, hospitality, and logistical requirements for a performance by Mike “Agent X” Clark. It is provided to ensure a seamless and professional engagement, allowing the artist to deliver the highest quality performance befitting his international standing as both the “Ambassador of Detroit House” and “The Architect of Beatdown.” The following stipulations are standard for an artist of his caliber and are essential for producing the authentic Detroit sound for which he is renowned. This rider is intended as a collaborative agreement to guarantee a successful event for the artist, the promoter, and, most importantly, the audience.
This rider is an integral addendum to the main performance contract. Failure to meet these requirements may be considered a breach of contract. Please confirm receipt and agreement by signing the final page.
2.0 Technical Requirements
The technical specifications outlined below are critical for Mike Clark to perform his signature blend of Detroit House, Techno, and Beatdown. Having come up under the mentorship of Detroit legend Ken Collier and influenced by pioneers like Ron Hardy and Larry Levan, Mike Clark’s performance relies on the specific tactile response and sonic character of this industry-standard equipment to deliver the authentic, soulful Detroit sound he pioneered. The specified equipment ensures sonic integrity, reliability, and compatibility with his dynamic performance style. Adherence to these standards is non-negotiable.
2.1 DJ Equipment
- DJ Mixer: One (1) industry-standard professional DJ mixer (e.g., Any Pioneer mixer DJM-900NXS2 in perfect working condition with all channels, EQs, and effects fully functional.
- Media Players: Two (2) industry-standard professional CDJ/media players (e.g., Pioneer CDJ-3000 or CDJ-2000NXS2), link-enabled and updated to the latest available firmware.
- Turntables: Two (2) industry-standard professional direct-drive turntables (e.g., Technics SL-1200/1210 MK7), in perfect working condition with stable pitch controls and fitted with new, high-quality cartridges and styli.
- DJ Monitor: One (1) high-quality stage monitor speaker with an independent, easily accessible volume control, positioned within the DJ booth according to the artist’s preference.
2.2 Sound System
A professional, concert-grade PA system capable of producing clear, full-range, and undistorted sound at a high volume is mandatory. The system must be fully operational and sound-checked by a qualified house technician prior to the artist’s arrival at the venue.
2.3 DJ Booth & Setup
The performance area must consist of a sturdy, stable, and vibration-free table or console. It must be of adequate size to comfortably house all specified equipment without crowding. The area must have access to sufficient, properly grounded power outlets and be equipped with appropriate lighting for the artist to see the equipment clearly.
Once the technical foundation is set, ensuring the artist’s on-site comfort and readiness becomes the next priority.
3.0 Hospitality Requirements
These hospitality provisions are designed to ensure the artist is comfortable, hydrated, and focused, allowing them to prepare properly and deliver their best possible performance for your audience.
3.1 Dressing Room
One (1) private, clean, and lockable dressing room must be provided for the artist’s exclusive use from the time of arrival at the venue until departure.
3.2 Refreshments
The following refreshments must be placed in the artist’s dressing room prior to arrival:
- Water: Six (6) large bottles of still mineral water (room temperature).
- Juices & Sodas: An assortment of fresh juices (e.g., orange, cranberry) and premium soft drinks.
- Towels: Two (2) clean, dry towels.
- Food: A selection of healthy snacks, such as fresh fruit, nuts, or a light, well-balanced meal, should be available upon the artist’s arrival at the venue.
With on-site needs addressed, we turn to the logistics of travel and accommodation required for an international touring artist.
4.0 Travel & Accommodation
With a demanding schedule that includes headlining sets at Movement Detroit, residencies in Switzerland, and extensive tours across the EU and UK circuit, these professional travel and accommodation standards are essential to manage a demanding schedule. These provisions ensure the artist arrives rested, on time, and fully prepared for the performance.
4.1 Air Travel
All air travel is to be booked and confirmed by the promoter at least 30 days prior to the performance date.
- International Flights: For any flight with a duration of over four (4) hours, the promoter will provide one (1) business class, round-trip ticket originating from Detroit, MI (DTW) on a reputable, major airline.
- Domestic Flights: For flights with a duration under four (4) hours, the promoter will provide one (1) premium economy or equivalent seat.
4.2 Ground Transportation
All ground transportation must be pre-arranged and paid for by the promoter. This includes transport for the artist and luggage between the airport, hotel, and venue in a clean, professional, and safe vehicle.
4.3 Hotel Accommodation
The promoter will provide one (1) single room with a king-sized bed in a 4-star (or higher) business-class hotel. The booking shall cover the duration of the stay, including the night of the performance. The hotel must provide 24-hour room service and reliable Wi-Fi access.
With travel logistics confirmed, we must ensure the artist’s professional identity is represented accurately in all promotional materials.

6.0 General Terms & Conditions
The following terms are standard contractual protections necessary for a professional engagement and supplement the main performance agreement.
- Payment: 100% of the artist’s performance fee is due as per the specific terms and schedule outlined in the main performance contract.
- Cancellation: Should the promoter cancel the engagement within 30 days of the performance date for any reason other than a force majeure event, the promoter will be liable for the full contracted artist fee.
- Recording: No unauthorized audio or video recording of the performance is permitted. Any professional recording must be negotiated and agreed upon in a separate written agreement with artist management.
- Security: The promoter is responsible for providing adequate and professional security for the artist, their equipment, and their personal belongings at the venue at all times.
7.0 Agreement & Confirmation
The undersigned promoter or venue representative hereby confirms they have read, understood, and agree to provide all requirements stipulated in this artist rider.
